About Morris
Welcome to MorrisChapdelaine.com! I am a film maker, actor, director, art director and puppeteer (of all the crazy things!) living in fantastic Vancouver, British Columbia- the Sci-fi and comic book film and television capital of the world. (OK, it's just ME that proclaims that, but over my 10 years+ here, I have had the great opportunity to play aliens and creatures on several different shows)My first feature is just making the festival rounds and has already won it's first award! As a director I have made several short films and continue to do so and I have recently been working in many 'new media' formats as a director and art director. Take a look at my galleries, portfolios, demo reels and films and feel free to leave your comments- they're most appreciated. Thanks! MorrisDirecting Today
Another great project from INTAVAJanuary 7th, 2008
I have been in Seattle for a week now and things have been exciting and challenging all at the same time. Today I am off to Victory Studios to direct an information spot on the latest from INTAVA, the leader in interactive touch screen shopper technology. They will be launching an incredible new piece of technology they call the 'Smart Merchandising System' and I am helping to create that video. Look for a link here sometime here in the future.
2008 is already promising to be a busy year with alternative production...I have 25 VFS scripts to plow through and new video work with Vancouver's IMC. All in all an exciting start to a year that will certainly see the world of Television changing dramatically.
Almost Year End
Another short film- my Christmas gift to youDecember 24th, 2007
Well...all my travels for this month are done and I am now at home in Vancouver for the holiday season. I must say that the highlights were certainly shooting the short, 'The Puppet Life' with my pal Jeny Cassady, working in Seattle to finalise the scripts and story boards for the next in store and online Spint project and OF COURSE, my beautiful sister's wedding. All in all a month to remember. This is a brand new site, and for all those who stumble upon it welcome, and for any one who has been here before- welcome back! I hope in 2008 that this will become a portal of film and tv information from the busy media world that is here in Vancouver BC.
As time permits I will continue to upload films and photographs from my work. There's a chance that I will be involved with 'The Day the Earth Stood Still' with Keanu Reeves which just started shooting a few weeks ago. Keep your finger's crossed. I also NEED to mention that my big puppetteering feature, Alien Versus Predator Requiem- AVPR- opens across North America tomorrow, Christmas day. As I have said in interviews past (click here for a link). I really think this will be one of the most exciting in the franchcise. Go out and see it and escape all this holiday love and cheer that may be getting you all soft!
I have also uploaded another of my short films, a twisted little 1 room comedy called 'Thiago'. Go to my Film and Television page to take a look. Happy Holidays to all and here's to an exciting '08!
Working on the road...
between LA, Edmonton, Seattle and VancouverDecember 14th, 2007
Indeed this has become a crazy and busy time. I am presently working away at the Sprint Direct connect project which will have me in Seattle for most of the next 4 weeks. Currently I am trying to organize casting while at the same time reviewing final script work and story boards.
Auditions are happening Monday and maybe Tuesday in Bellevue, WA and I hope to have the cast and final scripts locked by mid week.
I have been able to upload a few more short films and you can see them by clicking here or going to my Film and TV page. I'll start with 'Would you Like to Continue?' This film was a blast to make and re works an old video game classic. I especially liked the challenge of telling a story without any dialogue.
Short Films Uploaded
Lets start from the very beginning...December 5th, 2007
I finally had a few minutes to begin uploading some of my short films for your viewing pleasure. Again, they are uploaded to Youtube to avoid high bandwith costs to myself and to make them easily viewable to you using almost any player available online.
I uploaded my demo reel first, adding it to my own account and then thought I should start with the very first film I ever directed. Previous to this I had Produced a hit web series, 'West of Denman', and a few other short films, which I will also upload here for you to see, but I thought my directorial debut, the quirky bedroom comedy, 'Interrupted' would be fun to start off with. So here you go, enjoy, 'Interrupted' by clicking here.
Look for more to come in the days and weeks to follow...
Upcoming Projects
Sprint, Nextel and another short film...November 26, 2007
December is shaping up to become a really busy month. I recently returned from Seattle where I was starting creative on the 2008 Nextel Direct Connect project. To see the kind of work I am talking about go to my New Media section or click here for a direct link. In film news, I have been rehearsing weekely for a great short film written by Jeny Cassady. I will be puppeteering an amazing character in this one which shoots from December 7th to 10th. This Thursday, November 29th, my latest short film, 'Evan and Elle' will be screening in Vancouver. If you're in town and would like more information, feel free to contact me.
I am also returning to Smallville today where the season's big LEX episode it shooting. I did a really racy scene last week that I am just dieing to tell you about, but I think its better to just tune in to watch. The episode is called 'Fracture' and all I'll tell you is that you potentially see a LOT of me.
Potential word this week on my pitched web series 'Harold'. My associate John Lenic, who produces the hit Sci-fi series Stargate Atlantis will be travelling to LA for the 'Ironman' screening and hopefully will come back with some postitive information so we can continue writing and perhaps scheduling this wacky new series. Keep checking back here for updates.
I am presently compressing a lot of my short films so they can be uploaded here for your pleasure.
